Two years and about thirty gigs ran out from the exit of their first album "Heretic”.
Now, THORGEN is back with the same line-up and a new album with name "Chemin des Dames”, a homage to their area and the soldiers of the "Grande guerre”.
"Chemin des Dames” is designed as an concept-album on what surrounds the human being. Three tracks speak about the misdeeds of the religion, three titles treat love, and three others pay homage to high facts of the First World War (Le collet du Linge 1915, Verdun 1916 & Le chemin des dames 1917).
Then two conclusions : "La fatalité" or the suicide. THORGEN offers to us his morbid and personal vision of humanity, always on bottom of melodic Heavy Metal.
To note the exceptional participation of some guests: Yves "Louis XV" Malezieux (ex ADX) on "Chemin des Dames”, Raymz (Fiinky Pie) on "Fatalité” and Tenebrius Rex (Eternal Rest) on "Les Sectes”.
The story of THORGEN starts in Laon one day of March 1998. Back then, Yves, nicknamed "Louis the Fifteenth”, who played guitar with ADX at the time, introduced fellow guitarist Cyrille "Cyre” BAILLY, to Marc DAZIN, who was Keops’ guitar-player, and had been a member of Karkass.
In September 1999, following Keops’ final split, both musicians decided to give it a try with a common project in the company of a third associate, bass-player Bernard LEGRAND, himself another ex-Keops stalwart. This partnership gave birth to a new band, THORGEN.
In January 2000, the line-up was completed by the enlistment of Cédric VETTORIE on lead vocals and drummer Gilles DELOFFRE, who's pedigree included stints with Stratus,Virus, Angel Killer and Lust.
Consequently, THORGEN fleshed out a new repertoire whose many influences (ADX, Killers, Dream Theater, Michael Schenker, Pantera, Metallica and also Judas Priest) resulted in vintage melodic Heavy Metal to which Cyre wrote lyrics evoking death’s various aspects and meanings.
In May 2000, THORGEN made their first live appearance at Vaucelles’ third Rock event, in the heart of their native Aisne area. Yet, in September, Cédric left the band to be replaced by Yves DAZIN, also an ex-Karkass and Keops and a former member of Excelcis deï.
The band only gigged again in June 2001, sharing the bill with MALEDICTION. This show was followed by many more concerts.
