Le groupe Hyskal est né en 2000.
Les membres fondateurs sont Hugues Tourinan (basse), Jérôme Tourinan (guitare) et Cyril Queneau-Pitol (sax). Sont venus ensuite François Pouvreau (claviers), puis Sébastien Ferraz (batterie) et Adrien Gautier (chant).
Le groupe décide de suite de créer uniquement des compositions originales et prend le pari de proposer un “Metal Progressif puissant et mélodique avec chant en français et saxophone.” Même si la technique est bien présente, elle reste maîtrisée sans sombrer dans la démonstration et fait d'Hyskal un groupe “accessible”.
Les influences sont diverses (du Jazz au Power Metal en passant par le Rock Progressif) les principales étant Dream Theater, Pantera, Planet X, Symphony X, Pink Floyd etc..
Très vite, les compositions s'orientent vers l'élaboration d'un album concept introspectif : “Insight”.
Le groupe prouve alors sur scène que sa musique, sans être “élitiste”, attire un public de plus en plus large, grâce notamment au chant en français et au saxophone.
Une démo 5 titres voit le jour en 2003. Passée entre les mains de Michael Lepond de Symphony X, elle vaut au groupe un mail d'encouragement : “…The songs were put together and arranged quite well. The musicians played great and the overall production was better sounding than most of the demos that I get from bands…”
Les concerts s'enchaînent et le groupe décide de produire son premier album.
Septembre 2003 : Première partie de Subsonic
Toute l'année 2004 est consacrée à l'enregistrement de l'album sans négliger les concerts : “…Une formule très acérée, complète et inspirée. Hyskal plonge le feu de leurs consciences dans le maelström mélodique et furieux des influences de Dream Theater et Pantera, révélant lumineux et incandescent un métal progressif de forte stature, identitaire et énergique. Agissant sur scène en pleine maîtrise des compos, l'âme d'Hyskal vibre à la fois de puissance et d'émotion, un son riche et expressif servant magnifiquement un chant en français…” (Sortir label Charente 13.03.04)
Mai 2004 : Première partie de Manigance Sur cet élan, Hyskal travaille déjà sur le prochain album plus … “agressif” : “Chroniques des Atrocités Quotidiennes”...

Hyskal was born in 2000.
The first members are Hugues Tourinan (bass), Jérôme Tourinan (guitar) and Cyril Queneau-Pitol (sax). Then came François Pouvreau (keyboards), Sébastien Ferraz (drums) and Adrien Gautier (vocals). The band quickly decides to create its own compositions and makes a bet for proposing "a powerful and melodic progressive metal with sax and French words".
Even if the technical is real, it's mastered without giving way to demonstration; that's what makes Hyskal an "accessible" band. Their influences are various (from jazz to metal power and progressive rock), such as Dream Theater, Pantera, Planet X, Symphony X, Pink Floyd etc…
Compositions quickly became an introspective concept album: “Insight”. As its music is not an elitist one, the band gains a largest audience, thanks to sax and its French songs. A five titles demo came into being in 2003, and Michael Lepond, from Symphony X, came across it. He sent an encouraging e-mail: “…The songs were put together and arranged quite well. The musicians played great and the overall production was better sounding than most of the demos that I get from bands…” The concerts followed on each other and the band decides to produce its first album.
September 2003: 1st part of Subsonic
The year of 2004 was dedicated to recording, without neglecting concerts: “…Une formule très acérée, complète et inspirée.

Hyskal, carried along by its impetuous, is working on its 2nd album: “Chroniques des Atrocités Quotidiennes”...
